If you are interested in becoming an Institute Member, we invite you to complete the Member Application Form

An elderly man in a straw hat and red plaid shirt is seated outdoors, while a woman in sunglasses and a black jacket is checking his blood sugar. She is wearing blue gloves and holding a small device to his finger. A tractor tire is visible in the background, indicating a rural or farm setting.

Institute Members have access to several unique benefits, including:

  • Opportunities to connect with faculty and community partners from ECU, NC A&T, NC State, and other collaborating institutions and organizations
  • Notifications about funding opportunities for research, outreach, and education projects
  • Support in accessing agricultural and rural populations for research or program delivery, including help with relationship-building and project implementation
  • Assistance in identifying potential collaborators and forming interdisciplinary or multi-institutional teams
  • Guidance in preparing competitive grant proposals, especially large or collaborative submissions
  • Administrative support for funded projects coordinated through the Institute
  • Invitations to participate in Institute-hosted research symposia, networking events, and discussions on emerging issues and priorities
  • Recognition on the Institute’s website and formal documentation of your membership for use in CVs, grant proposals, or evaluations
  • A subscription to the Institute Members’ email listserv with updates on funding, events, and professional development opportunities
  • Additional perks such as access to the East Carolina University campus libraries, ECU athletic and performing arts ticket discounts, and use of ECU student recreational facilities.

As an Institute Member, we ask that Members:

  • Hold a faculty or professional-level position in good standing with a university, agency, or organization aligned with the Institute’s mission
  • Have an active interest in, strong commitment to, and applicable skills relevant to one or more areas of the Institute’s mission and/or strategic plan goals.
  • Acknowledge the Institute in research proposals, publications, presentations, and other activities relating to agromedicine if the activity was facilitated or funded through the Institute.
  • For University faculty and staff: Select the Institute as a center/institute in eTracs (ECU), RamSes (NCA&T), PINS (NCSU), and on IRB applications when submitting projects related to agromedicine so as to aid in tracking of agromedicine-related projects on the partner campuses, even though no direct or indirect funding may be associated with the Institute.
  • To fully participate in and support Institute programs and projects compatible with their primary work appointment.
  • Submit an annual update on any activities connected to agricultural health and safety (or let us know if there’s nothing to report that year)
